15) Stargazy
Stargazy – a spacious double-fronted 19th-century, terrace cottage built in 1884 is truly a unique and beautiful one-off destination on a quiet residential street in the historic engineering town of Hayle. Stargazy, with its verdant garden, beautifully appointed log cabin and unparalleled garden pub, deserves its unique status. Beyond the warm and friendly cottage is a luxurious self-contained log cabin amid the beautiful terraced garden. Wend your way up past the serene Fish Pond, through multiple tranquil garden rooms and discover a unique surprise – “The Irish Pirate”, a traditional pub that came second in the national Shed Pub of the Year 2023, complete with bar, pool table, dartboard and memorabilia, for you and your guests to enjoy.
Built during Hayles' rapid growth as Cornwall’s Industrial Engineering Centre, restored and renovated by the current owners in 2018, this stunning example of an early 19th-century foundry workers' cottage offers guests so much to enjoy: the perfect retreat for relaxing and getting away from the world. Sit in one of the many garden rooms to while away the hours, enjoy a chilled bottle of wine or alfresco dining, relax on the well-tended lawn surrounded by lush planting and enjoy the views across Hayle to the marram grass-covered Towans at Phillack, and as the sun dips at the end of the summer, look skywards and spot a V-shaped skein of geese flying overhead. Spend the evenings in “The Irish Pirate”, your very own private pub, have a game of pool or darts, watch sports on the TV or just enjoy a drink or two on the deck with your friends and family. You’ll never want to leave!

Where to begin??? The accommodation itself is nothing short of breathtaking, we genuinely thought we were in a tropical country, hats off to whoever designed and built such an amazing garden (we assume the owners), we stayed here after getting engaged and could not have wished to celebrate anywhere nicer, with some genuinely heartfelt touches for when we arrived. We will absolutely be back, and will tell everyone we know, who comes to Cornwall to book Stargazy Garden for a night at least! And if you’re reading this review, just press the book button you will not be disappointed! Thank you from the soon to be ‘Parker’s’ and see you soon!
August 12, 2024Exceptional! Such a great experience! The booking for The Cabin is for a complete building with a large bed and a shower room, but also a neatly separated portion of the owners' garden, and a separate building with a pool table and darts. We had an issue with the pool table, and it was resolved within ten minutes. Honestly, it's just beautiful. That's not even getting into the beauty that is the nearby beach, admittedly with some light walking required to get to the best parts. Again, exhaustive guidance was provided on the numerous shortcuts in the area, and the great pubs and cafes in town.
